Add page numbers to a PDF

Number pages in the corner, starting wherever you want. Everything runs on your device — no upload, no account, no daily quota.

About this tool

Page numbers are what make a printed contract arguable and a 40-page report navigable. Word and LaTeX add them automatically; a scan or a merged bundle usually has none.

This tool stamps numbers onto every page in your chosen corner, with a starting value and format that match how the document will be referenced.

How to page numbers

  1. 1 Add the PDF and choose the corner for the number.
  2. 2 Set the first page number, the font size and the distance from the edge.
  3. 3 Apply the numbering and download the result.

Good to know

  • Numbering is visual text added on top of the page; it does not change the document’s internal page labels.
  • Numbers start on page one by default — set the first number to 0 if the cover page should be unnumbered.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start numbering from a later page?

Yes. Set the first page number to the value you want, then split or extract the earlier pages if they should stay unnumbered.

What formats are available?

Plain numbers (1, 2, 3), number of total (1 / 12) and Page 1. The total reflects the document length plus your starting offset.

Will the numbers overlap existing content?

They are placed inside the margin you configure. For pages with content close to the edge, increase the margin or reduce the font size.
